KUCHING (July 18): Kuching Jazz 2024 on Oct 4-5 at the Grand Margherita Kuching’s waterfront promises to feature an eclectic mix of artistes.
Mark Ferguson, chief executive officer of Hemisphere Corporation Sdn Bhd – Sarawak Economic Development Corporation’s (SEDC) tourism and hospitality division – said Kuching Jazz 2024 aims to bridge the vibrant music scene of Southeast Asia, providing a platform for artistic expression and cultural exchange.
“This year’s festival promises to be an extraordinary event, uniting the diverse musical talents of Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand, with a special emphasis on showcasing the rich pool of local talent from Sarawak,” he said during the official launch of the festival and its website by SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain last night.
“The festival this year will feature an eclectic mix of talented artistes, including renowned local bands such as Swaiv, Improvisor, Sang Timur, Suhu, Zee Avi, and Aruel Ariel & The Fasola, each bringing their unique sound and energy to the stage.”
He said the festival’s mission is to position Sarawak and Malaysia as premier event destination, while firmly establishing Kuching as a global hotspot for jazz enthusiasts.
“This year’s festival is not just about music; it’s about celebrating our cultural diversity and fostering unity among Southeast Asian nations.
“The additional activities leading up to the main event will make this year’s festival even more special and engaging for the community,” said Ferguson.
