KUCHING (July 17): Kuching will host the Borneo Open International DanceSport Championship on Nov 1-3.
The world-ranking event under the World DanceSport Federation will take place at Raia Hotel.
“This event promises to be a grand showcase of talent, drawing top dancers from around the world to compete on Sarawak soil,” said organising chairperson Chan Tyng Tyng.
The Tyng Dance Academy founder and principal said members of the community are invited to join the vibrant cultural event.
The inaugural event last year attracted over 300 participants from Italy, Australia, France, China, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Singapore, Slovenia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong China, and Malaysia.
Chan said this year’s edition is expecting a higher number of participants from even more countries.
She opined the championship will continue to put Sarawak on the map in the world of dance.
Last year’s event was organised by the academy and Kuching Performing Arts Association.
It received support from the Youth and Sports Ministry, Majlis Sukan Negara, Malaysia DanceSport Federation, World DanceSport Federation, DanceSport Asia, and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts.
