KUCHING (Aug 4): The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is offering a 50 per cent discount on overparking coupons until Sept 30 in conjunction with this year’s Kuching Festival.
In announcing this, Kuching South Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the discount aims to encourage those who have been issued the overparking coupons to settle the payments as soon as possible.
He made this announcement during his Facebook live session ‘Shall WEE Talk’ yesterday.
Wee also said a rabies case involving a pet owner was recorded this week at Mile 13 of the Bintulu-Miri Road.
In this regard, he urged pet owners to not only ensure their dogs are vaccinated against rabies but also to restrict their movements to avoid any untoward incident.
Wee said MBKS would continue to collaborate closely with the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on rabies prevention awareness campaigns for the local community.
Touching on this year’s Kuching Festival performances, Wee said a singing-dancing troupe from Yunnan province, China will be staging a performance at the MBKS Lake Park Theatre at 7pm on Aug 6.
He said the troupe, which comprises at least 25 professional artistes from China, will entertain guests at the festival.
He said the Mayor’s Walk, which is held in conjunction with the Kuching Festival, has received 6,000 participants.
Additionally, a Zumba session at the Jubilee Ground today, offers lucky draw prizes worth up to RM16,000.
The mayor said the Kuching Got Talent, which is another activity held in connection with the festival, is scheduled to take place on Aug 10 and 11.
Wee encouraged more people to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their talents at the upcoming event.
