MIRI (July 17): Miri MP Chiew Choon Man has urged the public to refrain from speculating or making statements regarding the murder case of 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah.

Chiew said that the speculations will further hurt the family and could jeopardise police investigation.

“I have met with the police from IPD Hulu Selangor to get feedback on the case. I would like to thank the police for their swift action and efficiency in investigating the case.

“I have been assured that the authorities are doing their best to achieve justice for all,” he said in a press statement today.

Chiew said he accompanied the family of Nur Farah Kartini to IPD Hulu Selangor earlier today to facilitate the police investigation, and handed over a cash donation to the family, who had flown from Miri to Kuala Lumpur.

“I would also like to thank Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Upsi) for their assistance to the victim’s family, which included assistance with the burial process,” he added.

Chiew said he had told Nur Farah Kartini’s family that they could contact him if they needed any assistance while they were in Selangor.

Nur Farah Kartini’s body was discovered in an oil palm plantation area in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, around 6pm on Monday.

Nur Farah Kartini, from Kampung Lereng Bukit here, had been reported missing since July 10 after delivering a rental car to a customer.

Subsequently, a 26-year-old man, also a policeman stationed in Perak, was arrested and remanded for seven days until July 22 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
