KUCHING, Sept 18: Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak has been granted a conditional royal pardon where he will serve the remainder of his prison term under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia granted the pardon, on the condition that Najib pays the fine of RM50 million, a reduction from RM210 million.

Najib is to comply with all specified conditions, and should he fail to adhere to any of stated terms, this conditional pardon will be revoked immediately where he will serve the remaining sentence in prison without delay.

This is in accordance with a press statement from the Prime Minister’s Department Legal Affairs Division.

The statement said that the decision was made during the 64th Meeting of the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya today.

Najib was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment and a fine of RM210 million for SRC International corruption case. The sentence was later reduced to six years .—DayakDaily
