KUCHING: The new director of the Unit For Other Religions (UNIFOR) Datuk Georgina Apphia Ngau said that Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas wants her to monitor the implementation of all its funded projects for the various houses of worship.
“This is to ensure that all upgrading or construction projects and others are completed properly and meet the completion schedule,” she said after paying a courtesy call on Uggah who is the Minister in Charge of UNIFOR today.
She said Uggah too wanted her to help in assessing the actual cost of projects requested to avoid any issue of over estimation.
“My other new responsibility is to find ways and means to preserve as well as to further strengthen the existing solid inter-religious and racial unity and harmony enjoyed in the state,” she added.
Georgina, who is the former Registrar of Societies( RoS) Sarawak director, assumes her new appointment beginning this month.
She had served in many senior positions in various federal departments and the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
Meanwhile, also paying his courtesy call on Uggah on the same day was the chief executive officer of UNIFOR Charitable Trust John Kennedy Janang.
