MIRI (July 18): Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak secretary Alan Ling has expressed confidence that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will conduct a transparent and fair investigation into the murder of Sarawakian Nur Farah Kartini.

In a statement prior to his departure to Kuala Lumpur to meet up with Miri MP Chiew Choon Man in Parliament on Wednesday, Ling stressed that there should be an absolute no compromise on the investigation as it involved a case of murder.

“I have great confidence in the police to solve this case and bring justice to the victim and her family and I’m ready to offer legal services to the victim’s family if needed,” he said.

Adding on, he said Chiew had already informed the victim’s family members about his offer when the latter accompanied the family to the Hulu Selangor District Police Headquarters (IPD) on Wednesday.

“I feel that I have a responsibility to help the victim’s family. I sympathise and am saddened by what has happened. It is very tragic and I would like to offer my expertise to help them if needed,” said Ling who is also the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak Secretary.

He said he would monitor the progress of the case investigation into the murder of Nur Farah Kartini, 25, who was found dead in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor at about 6pm on Monday (July 15), following a missing report lodged on July 10.

Ling has been a lawyer for 15 years and has helped many those in need on a pro-bono basis, especially in social justice issues.
