KUCHING, July 17: The 101st Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Sijil Simpanan Premium (SSP) winner, Jonatan Labo, says that he will contribute 10 per cent of his RM1 million prize to his church in his village.
Hailing from Puru-Sia village, the 62-year-old Ulu Trusan Lawas Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) district chairman and pastor revealed that he opened his savings account at BSN Lawas in 2019 and following the advice from the bank branch officer, he invested RM10,000 in BSN SSP in April of this year.
Jonatan said he is a regular saver using his BSN account at the Lawas branch, as he received income from his business entity.
He said he found out about his win from WhatsApp messages on July 7 from fellow villagers as when the bank tried to contact him earlier, he could not receive the call as the connectivity in his village is unreliable.
“Upon receiving the news about the win, the next day, I drove three-and-a-half hours to Lawas town to meet the bank branch officer on July 9.
“I was still uncertain but happy. Until I finally met the officer personally that day about my winning, only then I was confident that I was the BSN SSP monthly winner,” he told reporters at a hotel here today.
The father of six children said he has no immediate plans for the remainder of his prize money except to keep it first, apart from contributing 10 per cent to the church.
“My whole family was happy about the news and congratulated me.There is no immediate celebration as I have to wait 45 days for the official release of the money from the bank,” he revealed.
Jonatan said he intended to give some of his prize money to his children and siblings to help them.
“The plan is to keep the money in the bank, and the rest will be injected as cash flow into my business with a partner,” he said.
Jonatan encouraged members of the public to save and invest their savings in BSN SSP to stand a chance to win RM1 million every month.
Meanwhile, the BSN monthly Regional Draw Winner for June 2024, Peter Numbang Guyu, was ecstatic to win a Perodua Myvi 1.5 as an early birthday present for his birthday which falls in September.
The 60-year-old retired Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (BOMBA) personnel and father of two revealed that it will be the sixth car for himself and his family.
Hailing from Betong but now residing in Samarinda Kota Samarahan, Peter disclosed that he had two children.
“I have two sons where the elder is independent, but the youngest is a person with disabilities (PWD).
“My youngest was very happy to hear that I won a car by BSN, and he and my wife cannot wait to have a ride.
“Since the car is very new, I will be the first to drive it and will drive with my family. I would like to thank BSN for the prize and it is good to have a chance of winning as an account holder,” he said. — DayakDaily
