KUCHING, July 6: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Dato Snowdan Lawan is hoping to aim for a higher post in the party’s next Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC).

He believed that all Supreme Council members share the same opinion as him, where those with seniority would want to climb up the ladder.

“In the Supreme Council, for those who have been in politics for a long time, they are quite senior.

“Of course, you tend to go higher, and you cannot stagnate or stay in the same place. Your aim is to go higher and give way to the younger ones to take your place.

“But how high? It depends, I do not know,” he told reporters after officiating the prize-giving ceremony for DayakDaily’s ‘Gastronomy and I: My Favourite Dish’ Writing Competition 2.0 held at Imperial Hotel here today.

However, he stated that the dates for PRS’ next TDC have yet to be set by the Supreme Council.

Asked whether there are any specific posts that he is eyeing, he only commented that it is up to the party’s supreme council to decide on about 30 positions of the party’s office bearers.

Nevertheless, he hoped that the party would hold an open contest for its main posts in the next TDC to uphold the democratic system and ensure that they have a strong leadership to lead the party.

The previous TDC was held on April 23 and 24, 2022, when the party retained its status quo for its supreme council members.

Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum has been the party’s acting president since the demise of the former party president, the late Tan Sri James Jemut Masing, on Oct 31, 2021. — DayakDaily
