Quick Sadong Jaya homeowner stops fire from destroying house

KUCHING (July 17): A homeowner’s quick actions prevented a fire around 6pm yesterday from destroying his house in Kampung Iboi Ulu, Sadong Jaya.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Asajaya station were deployed and arrived at the scene at 6.20pm.

“Upon arrival at the scene, the fire, which occurred inside a storage room, had been successfully extinguished by the homeowner,” Bomba said in a statement today.

The kitchen storage room measuring around 10 square metres was 80 per cent damaged by the fire.

Firefighters ensured the fire would not reignite by thoroughly dousing the area with water before concluding the operation at 7.27pm.

Bomba is still investigating the cause of the fire.
