KUCHING, July 19: Flying the Sarawak Colonial Flag is not an offense, claims Sarawak Association for Peoples’ Aspirations (SAPA) president Dominique Ng.

According to Ng in a statement today, this is contrary to what some misinformed officers or government servants who claim that the old Sarawak Flag is illegal or cannot be flown.

“As to the part of the claim that ‘those who fly those flags still want to be subjects of the UK’,  I would also like to assure the good Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Sarawak government that the people who have chosen to fly the old Kingdom Flags on Sarawak Day are all red blooded Sarawak Nationalists who are not going to be changing their citizenship of Sarawak for that of another nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ng said SAPA will be organising its annual 722 Gathering to commemorate the Sarawak Independence Day at Padang Merdeka on July 22.

He also said that on the night before 722 (on July 21), there will be a 722 Fund Raising Dinner for which tickets are being sold. — DayakDaily
