ADVERTISE HERE
KUCHING (July 30): Efforts are being undertaken to locate retired police personnel eligible for the Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara (PJPN) award.
According to Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata, there are more than 500 retirees meant to receive the honour.
“We still have more than 500 PJPN recipients yet to receive the award, and we are now tracking them.
“We hope to settle this by end of this year,” he told reporters after the presentation of PJPN awards at the General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak headquarters in Batu Kawa here today.
Mancha said it would be likely that the PJPN recipients living in the rural areas to have the award given to them directly.
Adding on, he said those who had previously served as Sarawak Border Scouts were also eligible for the PJPN.
At the ceremony earlier, Mancha presented the medals to 186 retired Sarawak police personnel.
The award was meant as a special recognition for those who had served the nation during the Emergency and Communist Insurgency periods from 1948 to 1990.
