Sarawak leaders urged to trust Anwar’s commitment to school and clinic repairs

MIRI: Miri MP Chiew Choon Man has called on all Sarawakian leaders to remain confident in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and trust in the process concerning the RM100 million allocated for the repair and upgrade of dilapidated schools and clinics in Sarawak.

Chiew acknowledged recent comments made by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who expressed concerns about Anwar’s June 22 announcement and noted that Sarawak has not yet received the promised funds.

Dr Sim stressed the importance of tracking this commitment to ensure its fulfillment.

While appreciating the Deputy Premier’s vigilance, Chiew in a statement yesterday (July 17), urged Sarawak’s leadership to engage in effective communication with the relevant federal departments and officers to expedite the process.

 He noted that such collaboration would bolster public and investor confidence, showcasing the strong partnership between the federal and state governments in addressing Sarawak’s development needs.

Chiew affirmed his belief that both federal and state leaders are united in their goal to address Sarawak’s longstanding issues, particularly the condition of its schools and clinics.

 He committed to personally overseeing the follow-up process to ensure the timely disbursement of the RM100 million.

He also pointed out Anwar’s dedication to Sarawak and Sabah, citing the historic return of 55 plots of land to the state governments and the autonomy granted to Sarawak and Sabah to decide on projects valued at RM50 million or less.

These actions, according to Chiew, demonstrate Anwar’s commitment to empowering the state governments and addressing regional needs.

He expressed confidence that under the Malaysia Madani spirit, the administration would prioritise resolving issues that have persisted for decades, such as dilapidated schools and clinics.

Chiew urged unity and perseverance, stressing that with a shared vision for progress, Sarawak can overcome its challenges and continue to build a stronger, more prosperous future under the leadership of Anwar and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
