Sarawak's overall budget, insight - Soon Koh

KUCHING, Oct 12: Sarawak Budget 2027 is comprehensive and looks at various aspects of urban and rural development.

Among others, Sarawak is a leading player in the renewable energy and green energy sectors at ASEAN and international levels.

Member of the Bawang Assan State Legislative Assembly (ADUN), Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, said the budget reflects Sarawak's aspiration to overcome its role as a state with a small population.

On the contrary, it is clear that Sarawak emerges as a leader in strategic sectors which have the potential to attract global investment.

"The prime minister has put Sarawak not just as a small state with a small population, but as a major player.

"Especially in the renewable energy sector and green energy at ASEAN level, even on the international stage", he said.

He said this to the media after more than three hours of presentation of Sarawak Budget 2027 by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at DUN Sarawak today.

The former Second Finance Minister of Sarawak also stressed that the budget preparation requires careful preparation, courage in setting development direction and discipline in ensuring the state's financial management remains efficient.

He also attributed the presentation of Sarawak Budget 2027 as one of the longest to reflect careful planning and commitment of state government in comprehensive development framework.

According to him, the approach is essential for ensuring continued development of Sarawak, as well as enhancing the state's competitiveness in attracting investment and exploring new economic opportunities. - TVS
