KUCHING, July 18: Selangor has been unanimously selected as the host for the 22nd Malaysia Games (Sukma) and Para Sukma, set to take place in 2026.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, the decision was made during the 11th Malaysia Games Supreme Committee Meeting 2024, chaired by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, held at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur today.

“The Malaysia Games meeting today has chosen Selangor as the host for Sukma and Para Sukma in 2026 after Selangor volunteered and received unanimous approval from the committee,” Yeoh stated during an interview with Ukas.

“Get ready Selangor to take over from Sarawak next,” she added.

For the games in Selangor, a total of 28 sports are proposed to be contested, while 10 sports will be featured in the Para Sukma.

Earlier, Selangor’s Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneurship Exco Najwan Halimi presented the state’s bid to host the biennial event. — DayakDaily
