SIBU (Aug 3): The Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Sibu Chapter launched its Flag Day 2024 event today at the Sibu Central Market.
Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairman Mohamad Abdullah Izkandar Rosely said the launch signified the Red Crescent’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
“The Red Crescent, a part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, has a long-standing tradition of providing critical support in times of need, whether through disaster responses, health services or community aid,” he said at the launch.
According to Mohamad Abdullah, ‘Flag Day’ is not just meant to raise awareness, but also ‘a call for action’.
“It’s an opportunity for each of us to contribute to a cause greater than ourselves.
“Every donation and gesture of support helps extend the reach of the Red Crescent’s vital work and ensures aid is available to those who need it most, both locally and globally.”
Mohamad Abdullah thanked the people who had shown tremendous spirit of community and compassion, as well as MRC Sibu chairman Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee and his dedicated volunteers and supporters for making a difference.
“I encourage each of you to join us in this noble effort, whether by donating, volunteering or simply spreading the word about the Red Crescent’s mission.
“Let’s make this Flag Day a symbol of hope and solidarity for all.”
