KUCHING (July 19): A team from the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) First Infantry Division and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Army Division foiled an attempt by three immigrants to enter the country illegally today.
A spokesperson from the First Division Infantry Public Communications Cell said ATM and TNI personnel were conducting joint patrols at the Sector Gabma Biawak, approximately 118 metres from the Malaysian-Indonesian border at 9.45am.
“During the patrol, the soldiers noticed three individuals attempting to cross into Malaysia. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that they were heading to Malaysia to work illegally.
“All of the illegal immigrants, aged 20 to 47, did not possess any contraband items. Items consisting of cash, mobile phones, wallets, and clothing bags totalling RM3,790 were found on them,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
He added that a report was lodged at the Lundu police station on their deportation.
