KUCHING (July 19): The Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) held a course on ‘Enhancing Core Integrity Units’ for its 58 staff members here on July 17 to 18.
Jointly hosted by STIDC’s Risk Management and Integrity Division, and Human Resource Management Section, the course was also held in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
In a press release issued yesterday, STIDC said the participants involved were those from the management section, members of the Risk Management and Integrity Division, and integrity officers from its subsidiary companies.
The course, it said, aimed to prepare STIDC for the implementation of ‘Ethics Complaint’ services and to introduce Grade 41 and higher officers, as well as the Integrity Section members on complaints management, verification, and confirmation processes.
Three speakers – assistant commissioner Mohamad Nizam Kalam, senior officer Siti Zaharah Alias and senior assistant commissioner Mohamad Safari Abdullah, shared their knowledge and experiences.
The course began with a lecture on the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 (Act 711), procedures for implementing ethics complaint management functions, and procedures for implementing verification and confirmation functions.
This was followed by group discussions, practical training sessions, and closing remarks from STIDC general manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah thereafter.
