KUCHING (July 30): More than 7,000 police personnel are expected to be deployed throughout the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma), taking place in Sarawak this August.

In stating this, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata is unable to give the precise number, but he gives assurance that there will be a sufficient number of police personnel involved in the Games.

“We, the Sarawak police, are well-prepared. In terms of human resources, we have sufficient personnel to be deployed during the Sukma,” he told reporters when met after the presentation of ‘Pingat Jasa Pahlawan Negara’ (PJPN) honours at the General Operations Force (GOF) headquarters in Batu Kawa here today.

According to Mancha, all preparations are going on smoothly, especially in the aspects of security for the athletes competing in this Sukma edition.

Earlier in the ceremony this morning, a total of 186 retired Sarawak police personnel received their PJPN medals, presented by Mancha.
