KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan received a courtesy call from Taiyo Yuden (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd at the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), Wisma Sumber Alam yesterday (Sept 17).

The courtesy call was led by Kuching Japan Club president Sakai Kazue and accompanied by Taiyo Yuden Sarawak director Shinozaki Yoshihiko.

During the meeting, Taiyo Yuden Sarawak announced its plan to further expand its multilayer ceramic chip capacitors plant at Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone, with targeted completion by October 2028.

The investment is expected to create high-quality employment, strengthen human capital development and drive regional economic growth, reflecting Taiyo Yuden’s confidence in Sarawak as a competitive investment destination.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources II, expressed appreciation for Taiyo Yuden’s steadfast commitment to Sarawak since 1994, when the company began commercial production of axial lead inductors, multilayer ceramic chip capacitors and multilayer ceramic chip capacitor elements.

He reaffirmed the state government’s support for the company’s continued expansion and acknowledged its role in advancing Sarawak’s industrial ecosystem.

Also present were the MINTRED advisor, MINTRED deputy permanent secretary and Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) Sarawak director.
