29 made homeless after fire razes four Kpg Baru houses at Jln Bintulu-Sibu

TATAU (July 26): Twenty-nine people were made homeless after four houses in Kampung Baru at Jalan Bintulu-Sibu were destroyed in a fire this afternoon.

Tatau Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) station chief Jankey Jikat said firefighters were rushed to the scene upon receiving an emergency call at 3.26pm.

“Upon arrival at the location, they found that the fire was rapidly razing the houses built close to each other,” he said.

He added that the fire also destroyed four vehicles belonging to the residents of the houses.

No casualties were reported as the residents managed to escape safely, and the cause of fire and estimated losses are still under investigation.
