KUCHING, June 5: A 36-hour water supply disruption is expected to affect several areas in Miri beginning June 10, following scheduled repairs to a major water pipeline by Sarawak Water.
According to its Facebook post, Sarawak Water said the repair works will commence at 5pm on June 10 (Wednesday) at Batu 7, Jalan Miri-Bintulu, after a leak was detected in the main pipeline system, and repair works are expected to be completed by 8pm on June 11 (Thursday).
It explained that the water disruption is expected to last 24 hours, followed by a 12-hour system recovery period, bringing the total restoration time to approximately 36 hours.
Areas expected to be affected by the repair of the 1,100mm pipeline include:
- Krokop
- Jee Foh
- Jalan Bulan Sabit
- Piasau area
- Pulau Melayu/Taman Bayshore
- Pujut area
- Vista Perdana
- Desa Bahagia
- Permyjaya
- Desa Pujut
- Desa Indah
- Southlake
- Tudan
- Senadin
- Lutong/Kuala Baram
- Kampung Masjid
- Sungai 7
- Kampung Bukit Beraya
- Bukit Song Pump Station under the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB)
Meanwhile, areas affected by repairs to the 750mm pipeline include:
- Taman Jelita
- Taman Tunku
- Jalan Engkabang
- Sungai Dalam
- Eastwood
- Hilltop
- Riam
- Taman Delight
- Bakam
Sarawak Water also said water tanker trucks will be deployed to supply water to affected areas during the disruption.
