SIBU: The Civil Defence Force (APM) has suggested the setting up of a training centre for APM personnel in the central zone.

According to Sibu District APM officer Major (PA) Wan Mohd Jabir Wan Mohd Badrudin, the centre will provide for competent personnel.

“We can also use it to share knowledge (through seminars and training) with the public in the central zone,” he said at the APM conferment ceremony at Agape Centre here Sunday (June 30).

Meanwhile, APM Sarawak director Mokhtar Samad said they will continue to work hard to set up branches in all districts in Sarawak.

Currently, he said APM only has 32 administrative offices in Sarawak and although it will take time, he emphasised that every full district must have an APM branch.

“I hope that all YBs present today will help us convey our wish to the higher-ups so that we can achieve this dream.

“It is important to increase the level of security and ensure that harmony exists within the corners of every district in our state,” he added.

Some 66 recipients were conferred with medals at the ceremony, and among the recipients were Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang, Sibu MP Oscar Ling, and Tanjong Manis MP Yusof Abdul Wahab.

They received honorary officer appointment letters.
