MIRI: Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, has urged Bumiputera entrepreneurs to emulate their Chinese counterparts in order to succeed in business.
Speaking at a “Ngiling Bidai” programme organised by the Sarawak Bumiputera Entrepreneurs Chamber (DUBS) Miri branch on Sunday night, Dr Ripin emphasised the importance of adopting effective business strategies and keeping abreast with technological advancements.
“Imitate and learn the Chinese way of doing business,” said Dr Ripin. “There are many opportunities for us. We just have to be smart to seize the opportunity.”
Dr Ripin highlighted several key areas where Bumiputera entrepreneurs could improve, including branding and product improvisation.
He stressed that understanding and leveraging modern technology were crucial for business growth and sustainability.
“Advanced technology is very important. Our entrepreneurs need to keep abreast with technology trends. For example, they need technology apps to market their products. More of our entrepreneurs should use digital apps,” he added.
Dr Ripin encouraged entrepreneurs to explore all available resources, including websites that provide information on various programmes and financial assistance.
He advised them to focus on their products and remain resilient despite the challenges they may face on their path to success.
“Challenges are not easy to overcome, but with the right knowledge and determination, success is achievable,” he said.
At the event, Dr Ripin also announced an allocation of RM10,000 to Miri DUBS.
