KUCHING, Jan 22: The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Serian Community Building is expected to be fully completed and handed over by Feb 13, paving the way for the facility to begin operations for the benefit of the local community.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), DBNA president Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik said the project had reached 95 per cent physical completion as of Jan 22, with remaining works involving final finishing and the completion of several components.
“The extension granted is expected to be fully utilised by the contractor to ensure all works are completed according to the required specifications and quality standards before the official handover,” he reportedly said during a special site visit led by the DBNA Central Exco to the project site here today.
In the meantime, DBNA Serian has been advised to begin early preparations for the building’s operation once the Occupation Permit (OP) is obtained, which is expected after mid-February.
Among the suggestions put forward were the organisation of a project handover ceremony, with Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus to be invited, as well as the convening of a DBNA Serian Exco meeting to discuss the appointment of an operations management team, building security and canteen operations.
Once completed, the DBNA Serian Community Building is expected to serve as an important hub for community activities and social development, further strengthening DBNA’s role at the grassroots level. — DayakDaily
