BINTULU (July 23): The Sarawak government is committed to driving for greater progress in the state, with leaders working tirelessly to harness its abundant resources and propel it toward prosperity, said Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
The Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development was cited in a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit as saying that Sarawak has the capacity with competent leadership that could steer the state forward.
“Sarawak is rich in resources, and it would be a missed opportunity if we don’t fully utilise them.
“Our government is not only focused on enhancing social and economic well-being but also ensuring connectivity,” said Dr Rundi during the a luncheon, which was attended by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at a hotel here yesterday.
Dr Rundi, who is Kemena assemblyman, further highlighted that Sarawak aims to establish its own airline company and secure significant interests in banking and other sectors.
He said these efforts are part of the Sarawak government’s commitment to sustainable development and prosperity.
The event featured performances by the BLF Dance Group and musical renditions by Rhythm Raga Buskers.
Wan Junaidi also took the opportunity to engage with community leaders and other guests.
This marked Wan Junaidi’s first official visit to Bintulu since assuming the role of Sarawak’s 8th Head of State on January 26.
Among the dignitaries present were Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon.
