KUCHING, Feb 16: A 41-year-old man was killed in a road accident along Jalan Upper, Sibu, at 1.59am today after the Ford Ranger four-wheel-drive vehicle he was driving crashed into a parked trailer frame.

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkifli Suhaili said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Sibu district police headquarters received a report on the fatal crash shortly after the incident.

“Preliminary investigations found that the man was travelling from the town centre towards Lorong Then Kung Shuk 2 when he lost control of the vehicle upon reaching the scene.

“The vehicle subsequently collided with a trailer lorry frame that had been parked in the area,” he said in a recent statement.

The driver sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, with the crash causing severe damage to the front of the vehicle.

Police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
