BELAGA, Sept 16: The opening of the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Belaga station is set to strengthen firefighting and rescue capabilities while enhancing community safety in the Upper Rajang area.

Deputy Digital Minister and Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong officiated the opening of the station today.

The new station is expected to enhance the delivery of fire and rescue services in Belaga and surrounding areas, while providing an added layer of protection for communities in the region.

As part of the ceremony, Ugak and other dignitaries planted trees on the station grounds, symbolising their commitment to ensuring Bomba continues to serve the local community and contribute to efforts to improve public safety.

The opening ceremony also featured a firefighting exhibition, a children’s colouring competition and firefighting demonstrations, giving members of the local community an opportunity to learn more about the role and services of Bomba Malaysia.

Also present were Bomba deputy director-general (Development) Datuk Ts Nazili Mahmood, Bomba Sarawak director Jamri Masran, Kapit Deputy Resident Robert Liman Deli, Belaga District Officer Bidah Lujah, heads of government departments, as well as community and local leaders. — DayakDaily
