Eight in Kuching placed under peace bond for brawling over social media post captioned ‘Team Sundal’

KUCHING (July 23): The Magistrates’ Court here today placed eight individuals on an RM1,000 bond to keep the peace for six months for brawling with each other over a social media post captioned ‘Team Sundal’.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi made the order against the six women and two men aged between 21 and 29 after they pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Based on the facts of the case, the brawl happened at around 2.30am at an entertainment centre in Jalan Stutong here on July 18.

Due to the brawl, some of the individuals sustained injuries such as scratches and pain on their bodies.

Following the incident, a police report was lodged which led to the arrests.

The investigation found that the incident occurred because feelings of dissatisfaction arose when one of the individuals uploaded a post on social media with the caption ‘Team Sundal’.

ASP Hisyam Junaidi prosecuted the case, while the eight individuals were represented by counsel Lim Lian Kee.
