KUCHING: Political observer Datuk Peter Minos has strongly advocated the need for Sarawakians to master the English language.
He said Sarawak has a clear directive to excel in the language and nobody can stop that.
“Our Premier said it very clearly. We need English to move ahead with the rest of the advancing and progressing world.
“English is the ligua franca of international business, education, science, technology, diplomacy, entertainment, aviation and other aspects of modern progress,” he said in a statement.
He pointed out that English has become a global language of knowledge, information, and all facets of life.
“Hence, with abundant natural resources and a dedicated workforce, English is critical for Sarawak’s development and prosperity,” he said.
“There is simply no way to escape from learning English as new industries and new applications are integrated and learned in English.
“Now that Sarawak is focusing on learning English, Sarawak has a future. It will definitely soar ahead and will be a beacon of hope for Malaysia,” said Minos.
