BINTULU: The Gawai Dayak Open House is a platform to strengthen unity and tolerance among the multi-racial community in the state.
Deputy chairman of the Bintulu Development Board (BDA) Datuk Haidar Khan Asghar Khan said it is not only a celebration but a medium to strengthen community relations, especially between the Dayaks and other races.
According to him, the Gawai Dayak celebration is therefore not only celebrated as a day of thanksgiving by the Dayak community.
“On this day, we not only remember the heritage of our ancestors, but also renew the spirit of unity and togetherness that has long been the core of our life in Sarawak,” he said at the Gawai Dayak BDA Open House at Raymond Plen House, Sungai Gelam, Ulu Sebauh, here, on Saturday.
“I hope this Gawai Dayak open house will continue to be a platform for us to strengthen friendships and foster the spirit of “Segulai Sejalai” among us here.”
Also present were Works Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and BDA general manager Datuk Muhamad Yakup Kari.
