Harmony Walk sets the pace for greater unity

KUCHING: Unity in the state was in full display during the Sarawak Harmony Walk 2024 on Saturday (June 29).

People of different races and religions put aside whatever differences there may be to participate in the 2.4-kilometre walk in the vicinity of Padang Merdeka.

Joining the 5,000 strong crowd were the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

Many who took part said they can’t wait for more such events in the future.

I only recently learned about this event. When I saw it was organised by the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor), I was curious because I did not know about them.

Therefore, I think this event is very unique and special. It is a wonderful opportunity to experience this and witness people from different religious backgrounds coming together.

It’s a healthy and special gathering that I had never participated in before, so I decided to bring my family along. This event is excellent for promoting unity and harmony.

Today’s programme indeed greatly strengthens the unity of the diverse communities in Sarawak.

As we can see today, people from various backgrounds are participating. There are people from the mosque, church, temple, and more.

This is my second time participating in an event like this. I find it truly special because it’s not often you see people from all different races coming together. It is a rare and beautiful sight.

Events like this truly showcase Sarawak’s commitment to unity in diversity, bringing everyone closer together and creating a sense of one big family. It’s a wonderful experience.
