BINTULU (Feb 15): The iconic Tun Taib Mahmud Bridge has been transformed into a dazzling spectacle of colours in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration, casting a mesmerising glow across Bintulu’s skyline and riverfront.
Illuminated with vibrant aesthetic lighting, the bridge once again stands tall as a symbol of pride for the people of Bintulu.
According to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR Sarawak), the lighting initiative highlights the bridge’s distinctive architectural design while underscoring the department’s continued commitment to delivering quality, functional infrastructure with added aesthetic value for the public.
A simple yet meaningful ‘switch-on’ ceremony for the Jepak aesthetic lighting was recently officiated by JKR Sarawak director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris, together with Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang.
The ceremony marked JKR Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to enhance the urban landscape and strengthen the identity of Bintulu’s iconic infrastructure.
“Beyond its functional role, the bridge now doubles as a visual landmark that draws residents and visitors alike, contributing to the festive atmosphere while reinforcing the role of public infrastructure as a unifying element within the community,” said JKR Sarawak.
The illuminated bridge is expected to remain a focal point throughout the festive season, offering picture-perfect moments and a radiant welcome to those celebrating the Lunar New Year in Bintulu.
