Kembara JOM feedback to be included in draft amendment to Youth Organisations, Development Act 2007

SIBU (Aug 7): The feedback from the ‘Kembara Jumpa Orang Muda’ (JOM) programme here will be considered for the draft amendment to the Youth Organisations and Youth Development Act 2007, says Adam Adli Abdul Halim.

According to the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, the amendment, which was approved in Parliament in 2019, is expected to come into force on Jan 1, 2026.

“Some of the important changes proposed for the amendment include lowering the youth age limit to 30 years, the setting of the age limit for the heads of youth organisations, and the limitation of the leadership period to four years.

“The Kembara JOM is the best platform for the stakeholders to gain feedback and views regarding the youth leadership transition plan.

“This will increase knowledge and understanding related to Act 668 and the 2019 amendment, as well as knowing the direction of our youths and their leadership,” he highlighted this at the ‘Kembara JOM’ programme in University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) here yesterday.

Adding on, Adam Adli emphasised that feedback from participants as being critical in finalising the plan.

Organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Kembara JOM here held many activities including a briefing by Registrar of Youth Organisations, those run under the Rakan Muda programme, and also exhibitions by various government departments and agencies.

Adam Adli said the initiative reflected the Madani Government’s commitment to youth development, in line with Malaysia Madani aspirations and the Madani Youth Development Model (MPBM) 2030.

Also present was Youth and Sports Department Sarawak director Lamat Nyalau.
