KOTA KINABALU: A group of 15 Sarawakian youth joined the Ship for Southeast Asia and Japanese Youth Programme (SSEAYP) Conference Borneo 2024, held in Kota Kinabalu recently.

The conference was also joined by participants from several countries such as Brunei Darussalam and Indonesia alongside Peninsular Malaysia.

It aimed to empower youth education, provide opportunities for youth as vital contributors to sustainable national development, cultivate a first-class mindset society, and support government efforts to nurture positive change among the young generation.

“The Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Development Ministry (MYSED) will collaborate with SSEAYP International Malaysia (KABESA) in implementing next year’s conference (SICO Borneo 2025) which is expected to impact youth development in the Borneo initiative through global connections encompassing socio-economics, culture, society, technology and education,” it said in a press release.

In the session, Deputy Minister of MYSED Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, was among the panellist at the conference. He shared on the role of youth in driving social change through the state’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030) framework.

For the record, the SICO Borneo 2024 programme was organised by KABESA in collaboration with the Sabah Ministry of Youth and Sports.
