KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): The Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) said the Rubber Production Incentive (IPG) for cup lump and latex has been activated in Sabah and Sarawak for July 2024.

The custodian of the rubber industry said for Sabah, the activation rate for July 2024 is set at 10 sen per kg for cup lump with 50 per cent dry rubber content (DRC) and 20 sen per kg for cup lump with 100 per cent DRC.

“In Sarawak, the rates are 20 sen per kg for 50 per cent DRC and 40 sen per kg for 100 per cent DRC. “As for latex, the incentive is 90 sen per kg (100 per cent DRC),” it said in a statement yesterday.

MRB said smallholders in Sabah and Sarawak are eligible to receive IPG payments from Aug 1-31, 2024, based on their rubber production in July 2024.

“The IPG for cup lump and latex remains inactive in Peninsular Malaysia for July 2024, and thus no IPG payments will be made for this month.

Starting January 2024, the IPG will be activated if the average monthly farmgate price for cup lump rubber is RM3.00 per kg or below.

This adjustment, announced in the 2024 Budget, aims to support all eligible Malaysian rubber smallholders. — Bernama
