MIRI (Aug 7): A jobless man was fined RM3,000 in default three months in jail after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court here today to a charge of committing criminal intimidation.

Muhamad Ahza Wafiq Zaidy, 30, of Desa Senadin made the plea before Magistrate Randu Rangen after the charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code was read to him.

The Section provides for imprisonment of up to seven years, or with a fine, or both.

Based on the facts of the case, the accused threatened to kill a 51-year-old woman in front of a supermarket in Lutong at around 9pm on Aug 1 this year.

In mitigation, Muhamad Ahza pleaded for leniency as it was his first offence and that he is unemployed.

Insp Mudzilawati Abdul Rahman prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented.
