KOTA SAMARAHAN, June 4: Muara Tuang assemblyman Dato Idris Buang visited the grieving family of the five road accident victims in Kampung Lubuk Ria on Wednesday (June 3), extending condolences and a cash contribution as immediate support following the tragedy.

During the visit, Idris, who is also Deputy Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, expressed his sympathy and offered moral support to the bereaved family members, who are currently coping with the devastating loss.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), he also presented a cash contribution as a gesture of care to help ease the family’s immediate burden during this difficult period.

Idris described the incident as deeply heartbreaking and expressed hope that the family would be granted strength and resilience in facing the tragedy.

The fatal accident occurred along Jalan Baki Lama–Ensengei in Serian on Wednesday morning, when a vehicle carrying the family reportedly lost control while attempting to overtake a tractor before crashing into a roadside water pipe.

The victims, identified as a 30-year-old man, a 47-year-old woman, a 26-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl and a two-year-old girl, were confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from Serian Hospital.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), which responded to the emergency, managed to extricate four adult victims from the wrecked vehicle, while the baby girl was found nearby by members of the public and is believed to have been thrown from the vehicle upon impact. — DayakDaily
