KUCHING, July 4:The plan for constructing an elevated road in Sebuyau will be submitted for Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s approval within a month, as announced by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Uggah mentioned that the plan, which involves three packages, is currently under preparation by consultants.
“Our consultant is currently working on it, and we aim to present it to the Premier within a month,” Uggah told reporters after officiating the International Conference on Tropical Geoengineering (Tropicon) 2024 at Imperial Hotel.
He also noted that the contract for the road construction has already been awarded to a company, and further action will depend on the Premier’s instructions.
When asked about the length of the proposed elevated road, Uggah, who is also the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, said he could not disclose this information before receiving approval from Abang Johari.
“As far as we are concerned, the project is very likely to proceed,” he added.
On June 7, Abang Johari suggested building elevated roads as a new approach over ‘carpet roads’ for construction over peat soil. — DayakDaily
