KAPIT, June 16: Repair works at Jalan Sipan/Temalat in Song, which was affected by a landslide early last year, have been completed, providing greater convenience and peace of mind to residents as well as motorists who use the road daily.
In several Facebook posts made on Monday (June 15), Alvin Runggah Jimbun, who is the political secretary to Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the project commenced on Dec 17, 2025, and was completed according to schedule.
“The repair works involved the reconstruction of the slope using gabion wall protection, the installation of a drainage system to improve water flow, soil compaction works, and the installation of guardrails at the top of the slope to enhance road user safety.
“With the completion of the project, the route that was previously affected by the landslide is now functioning more safely and smoothly,” he said.
Alvin accompanied Nanta, who inspected the repair work at the project site.
Meanwhile, Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, spent some time with the residents of Rumah (Rh) Kayan in Nanga Dia. During a session with them, he emphasised that development and success can only be achieved through close cooperation between leaders and the community.

Later on, Nanta also inspected preparations for the Kapit-level Sarawakku Sayang (SKS) 2026 programme, which is scheduled to take place from June 26-28.
During the visit, he also engaged with the youth who were playing futsal and used it as a chance to ask about their well-being and obtain feedback on the sports facilities available in Kapit.
“For him, the opinions of young people are important as they are the primary users of these facilities. It is hoped that the aspiration to provide better sports amenities in Kapit can be realised for the benefit of the younger generation and the local community,” said Alvin. — DayakDaily
