RWMF performers make a splash despite the rain

Despite the heavy rain on the second day of the Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024, festival-goers continued to enjoy unforgettable moments with spectacular performances by the international musicians and performers.

Taking place at its permanent annual venue, the Sarawak Cultural Village in Damai on Saturday night, festival-goers were seen at the concert venue with raincoats and umbrellas.

The concert was delayed by approximately two hours and began at 8 pm with the first performance by Sarawak-born Sape star, Alena Murang. Among the songs she presented that night was her famous “Liling” song.

The concerts continued with performances by the local Sabah band Tuni Sundatang, showcasing their unique blend of traditional and contemporary music; Imarhan from Algeria, delivering a Maghreb pop performance; and Nini from Taiwan, presenting her folk metal sound.

Renowned Malaysian singer, Datuk Zainal Abidin was the last performers entertaining his fans with his energetic and rhythmic performance. He also showcased his new song “Tiba Masa”.

The festival was graced by the presence of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Hajah Norashikin.

Also in attendance was Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
