ADVERTISE HERE
MIRI (July 27): A total of 135 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) high achievers from SMK Merbau here have received educational incentives from Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.
Lee, who is also the state Transport Minister, disclosed that a total of RM41,200 were distributed to the top scorers, comprising 64 SPM and 71 STPM school leavers.
This, he said, was made to fulfil his pledge and in recognition of their hard work, as well as to encourage students to do well in their future undertakings.
“I believe this incentive can encourage students to continue their hard work and also to instil in them that good things will come to them if they work hard,” he said, adding that such higher incentives for schools could lead to better students’ performance.
Lee said this in his speech when officiating at the incentive presentation ceremony for SPM and STPM top scorers at SMK Merbau here yesterday.
At the ceremony, Lee also handed out a grant of RM85,000 to the school for the installation of an LED television in the school hall.
Also present were principal Amanda Chong and Parent-Teacher Association chairman Dr Maurice Steve Utap.
