KOTA BHARU (Aug 7): The Kelantan Cycling Association (PBNK) has set bronze medal targets for two of its cyclists for the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Sarawak, which begins Aug 17.

PBNK manager Mohd Sahal Saaidin Khadri said he hopes both cyclists, Muhammad Shukri Jimy@Mohd Jimy, 21, and Nurul Azlina Mohd Razali, 17, can put up a tough fight against other cyclists and bring back at least a bronze each due to their good performance thus far.

“We will be sending a total of eight cyclists, six men and two women, to Sukma,” he told Bernama recently, adding that the men will be competing in the road race while the women will compete in the Down Hill event.

He also said that they hoped to see at least one cyclist from the association securing a podium finish in Sarawak, and shared that their cyclists had placed fifth in the team event and third in the individual event when they participated in cycling events in Johor and Perlis as preparation for Sukma.

The cyclists have been preparing for the Games since last year under the tutelage of the association’s coaches, he added. – Bernama
