Unhealthy air quality in 32 areas, highest API in Perak

Tasek Ipoh in Perak recorded the highest API reading at 186 as of 6pm, followed by Seri Manjung (178) and Kuching (173).

Tasek Ipoh in Perak recorded the highest reading on the air pollutant index (API) at 186, while three other areas in the state also had unhealthy air quality: Seri Manjung (178), Pegoh Ipoh (157), Taiping (154) and Tanjung Malim (104).

According to the environment department’s API portal, the air quality remained unhealthy in most parts of Selangor, namely Johan Setia (165), Shah Alam (158), Banting (154), Petaling Jaya (152) and Klang (151).

In Kuala Lumpur, the API stood at 156 in Cheras and 149 in Batu Muda (Sentul), while Putrajaya recorded 159.

The air quality was also unhealthy in Kuching (173), Serian (173) and Samarahan (168) in Sarawak; Nilai (160), Seremban (156) and Port Dickson (122) in Negeri Sembilan; as well as Bukit Rambai (155), Alor Gajah (154) and Melaka city (152) in Melaka.

Up north, unhealthy API readings were reported in Sungai Petani, Kedah (155), and Minden (152), Seberang Jaya (145), Seberang Perai (142) in Penang.

In Johor, four areas recorded unhealthy readings: Batu Pahat (155), Segamat (153), Tangkak (151), and Kluang (114). Jerantut, Pahang, had an API reading of 153 and Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu, recorded 146.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
