KUCHING, Sept 17: A male worker suffered leg injuries after becoming trapped in the track assembly of an excavator at a worksite in front of Joo Seng Coffeeshop along Jalan Rock this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Batu Lintang responded to the emergency at 8.16am and a team of firefighters were swiftly deployed to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters conducted an initial assessment, which confirmed that the victim was trapped in the tracked wheel section of the excavator.

Rescuers immediately launched an extrication operation with the assistance of a crane and another excavator to move the machinery and free the victim.

The victim was successfully rescued and moved to a safe area before being handed over to the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) team for further examination and medical treatment.

Following the rescue, firefighters conducted monitoring around the worksite and provided a safety briefing to workers and the site supervisor, stressing the importance of workplace safety measures and adherence to safe work procedures, particularly prior to demolition activities, to prevent similar incidents from recurring. — DayakDaily
