Collision with MPV claims life of motorcyclist

BINTULU (July 29): A 37-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at Mile 2, Jalan Sultan Iskandar here Monday evening.

The deceased was identified as Mahmud Nyalong.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department, the collision left the victim pinned underneath the MPV.

“Following a distress call at 7pm, a team of 12 from the Bintulu fire station was rushed to the location and, upon arrival, commenced efforts to extricate the victim from underneath the vehicle,” it said in a statement.

Upon successful extrication, the victim was handed over to medical personnel who pronounced him dead at the scene, said the department.
