Elderly woman slams into 10 cars when trying to park in Kuching’s Mile 3 Bazaar

KUCHING (Aug 1): An elderly driver lost control of her sports utility vehicle (SUV) before crashing into 10 parked vehicles at Mile 3 Bazaar here around 9.45am today.

Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, when contacted, said the 80-year-old driver, who was with her husband in the passenger seat, attempted to park her vehicle and was believed to have stepped on the accelerator pedal instead of the brakes.

The vehicle accelerated up the curb and pavement before crashing into parked cars in front of the shoplots, he added.

Police were called to the scene, and advised vehicle owners affected to lodge police reports.

The incident is still being investigated, Mohd Irwan said.
