Four detained in three drug raids

MIRI: Four individuals, including a woman and a foreign national, were detained during three separate drug raids here last Monday and Tuesday.  

The raids, conducted by the Sarawak Police Contingent (IPK) and personnel from the Miri Police Headquarters (IPD Miri), resulted in the seizure of syabu worth RM23,631.30, weighing a total of 214.83 grammes on July 1.

Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrests in a statement today, noting that all three cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

On July 1, at approximately 10.45 pm, police arrested a foreign national at a house in the Miri area. During the raid, officers found and seized 67.32 grammes of syabu valued at RM7,405.20. The suspect is currently under remand, pending further investigation.

In the early hours of July 2, at around 12.30 am, police detained two locals—a man and a woman—at an unaddressed house here. The raid yielded 95.57 grammes of syabu, with an estimated value of RM10,512.70. Both suspects are under remand.

Later that day, at approximately 3.20 pm, officers arrested another local man at an unnumbered hut here. The police seized 51.94 grammes of syabu, valued at RM5,713.40. The suspect is also under remand.

Alexson urged the public to report any information regarding drug activities to the nearest police station, emphasising the importance of community cooperation in combating drug trafficking.
