MIRI (Aug 1): A lorry transporting ice cubes overturned and landed on its side on the Pan Borneo Highway here this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the lorry driver and assistant were slightly injured in the single-vehicle accident.
A report on the incident was received at 6.17am and the Miri Central fire station sent a team led by senior fire officer II Talip Tembaga to the scene around 56km away.
Upon their arrival at 7.08am, firefighters found the two men, aged 21 and 35, had managed to escape from the overturned vehicle with just minor injuries.
“The victims were given preliminary treatment by the Emergency Medical Rescues Services (EMRS) team and later handed over to the Ministry of Health’s ambulance medical team,” Bomba said in a statement.
Bomba wrapped up the operation after ensuring the scene was safe for other road users.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
