KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stressed the need for bigger financial allocation from the federal government to Sarawak for mineral resource availability studies and geological mapping.

This issue was among the topics discussed during the 3rd National Mineral Council Meeting yesterday (July 2) at the Parliament Building in Putrajaya.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and attended by federal ministers and heads of state governments.

Another key topic was the framework of the 3rd National Mineral Policy, prepared by the federal Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, as an improvement to the 2nd National Mineral Policy, which has been in place since 2009.
